After completing an MSc in Computer Science at The University of Western Ontario in 1994 I started my career as a software developer in the cable telecommunications sector at a local company called Cableshare, Inc.  Over the subsequent 15 years in that sector I’ve held positions from software developer to vice president, engineering.

As VP Engineering at TVWorks (a JV owned by Comcast and Cox) I led an organization of approximately 100 engineers, software developers, integrators and testers developing Java software for cable settop boxes and backend server systems.  I also led a group of senior architects and engineers to map out and design next generation video technologies for Comcast.

I currently hold the position of Chief Technology Officer at the Richard Ivey School of Business where, for the first time in my career, I’ve found myself in a position where I need to learn an entirely different business.  In addition to that challenge I’ve also enjoyed building a stronger team, addressing aging technology infrastructure, and designing technology systems for the $100 million new Ivey building slated for completion in the fall 2012.

In addition to my role at the Ivey business school I also serve on the advisory board for the award winning gaming company Big Blue Bubble, enjoy blogging on a variety of topics, and juggle the busy school of a family of five.
